The Fly6 camera is a rear light that watches your back as you ride – and I’m giving one of these $159 Rear Light/HD Camera devices away right here on the blog.
Born of a Kickstarter project, the Fly6 was supported by close to 2,000 signatures and this year won Outsider Magazine’s “Gear of the Show Award” at Interbike.
I was lucky enough to be given a Fly6 for a review on the London Cyclist site in June, and I was impressed with the ease of use, quality of the unit and mounts provided, and the footage.
You can read the full review here, but for the jist of it, I concluded:
The Fly6 performed exactly as it should. It had everything needed to make it work included in the box, and nothing was complicated. If I were unfortunate enough to be caught up in an accident, I would be pleased to have it with me.
In terms of enjoyment of the footage, I can’t say I captured anything inspiring, and to make an engaging video, I think you would need to combine it with footage of what’s going on ahead.
A device like this would be extremely useful for:
> Providing evidence should you be involved in an incident
> Filming what’s going on behind you in a road race/crit race
> Creating films from your rides, when combined with head camera or handlebar footage
Effective and useful as this camera is, I’m not likely to use it on a regular basis – my video editing skills are a little rusty and I’m lucky enough to enjoy a fairly rural commute.
So – I’m giving this one away. The winner will get one Fly6 camera (used for approx 3 hours filming), with seat post mount, aero seat post mount, and charging cable – all in the box as supplied.
How do you win?
To win this lovely little gift, simply post in the comments below, and tell me why you think you deserve it the most.
I reserve the right to pick my favourite answer, and the winner will be selected on Sunday 19th October and notified via email. The prize can only be shipped within the UK so you’ll need a UK address to enter.
