New Endevours..

Reading old blogs and this struck me:

Sunday 3rd Dec 2009 – This was the date the first time I ever tried to swim with face in the water. Struck me what a massive acheivment this seemed and how happy I was about it.

And this is what I wrote on Sunday 13th Dec 2009

“Initially, I mentioned the idea of a Triathlon, believing it to be a pipe dream. Mainly, I was under the impression that training for a triathlon would pretty much downsize every other part of my life – social life, degree, writing life.. I saw them all being squashed into a tiny corner of my triathalonated brain. Having considered the idea a little more carefully, I am beginning to wonder if this decision might have been a little hasty.

The idea of competing is also one that sometimes fills me with a little dread. However, the dread is mingled with excitement. Following any sort of competition, I always tell myself, and everyone around me, not to let me forget the feeling that follows a successful competition.

When it comes down to it, there’s no harm in trying something out.”

Almost one year on – and I would like to confirm that no, there was certainly no harm in trying something new.

Now, with the winter off-season here, its time to think about the new challenge. Next year, i’d like to be racing olympic distance. Yes, it will be hard work. No, it is certainly not impossible.
Let the training being..

I am an NCTJ qualified journalist and copywriter with a year’s worth of experience as a local hack, and just under two years’ of experience working in the marketing department for a highstreet retailer. I currently work at Cycling Weekly, previous to this I was the editor at Total Women's Cycling. I do a little freelance writing alongside my job, and have written for Runner’s World, Triathlete’s World, Sussex Sport, Basingstoke Gazette newspaper, the Brighton Argus, Steve Hart Photography and 2LK Design. I blog to record the activities in my life which I don’t want to forget when I’m old and wrinkly (let’s hope the internet never melts down – but it seems safer than a notebook) – to let old friends and family know what I’m up to, and because I enjoy playing with words. I’m always looking for new projects – and you can email me should you ever need someone with an energetic passion for word doodling.
