New Endevours..

Reading old blogs and this struck me:

Sunday 3rd Dec 2009 – This was the date the first time I ever tried to swim with face in the water. Struck me what a massive acheivment this seemed and how happy I was about it.

And this is what I wrote on Sunday 13th Dec 2009

“Initially, I mentioned the idea of a Triathlon, believing it to be a pipe dream. Mainly, I was under the impression that training for a triathlon would pretty much downsize every other part of my life – social life, degree, writing life.. I saw them all being squashed into a tiny corner of my triathalonated brain. Having considered the idea a little more carefully, I am beginning to wonder if this decision might have been a little hasty.

When it comes down to it, there’s no harm in trying something out.”

Almost one year on – and I would like to confirm that no, there was certainly no harm in trying something new.

Now, with the winter off-season here, its time to think about the new challenge. Next year, i’d like to be racing olympic distance. Yes, it will be hard work. No, it is certainly not impossible.
Let the training being..

I'm an NCTJ Journalist and work at Cycling Weekly. Previous to this, I was the Editor at Total Women's Cycling. I've also dabbled in marketing and copywriting - having been Marketing Coordinator and Social Media/Content Editor at Evans Cycles. My first job was working on a local newspaper.  I've written for a variety of titles on a freelance basis, too. I got into cycling when I entered my first triathlon in 2010. I now race crits, road races, time trials, and do a lot of track training for not very much track racing.
